Identify when the slowdown occurs
Note whether the PC is slow only at startup, while browsing, during one application, or all the time. Different patterns point to different causes.
Check Task Manager
Open Task Manager and review CPU, Memory, Disk, and Startup apps. Look for sustained high usage rather than brief spikes, and identify the process before ending it.
Free safe storage space
Use Windows Storage settings or Disk Cleanup for temporary files. Do not delete unfamiliar system folders or use aggressive registry cleaning as a first step.
Reduce unnecessary startup apps
Disable nonessential startup items one at a time. Leave security software, hardware utilities, and accessibility tools enabled unless you understand their purpose.
Check hardware health
Persistent 100% disk use, clicking sounds, overheating, sudden shutdowns, or memory errors may indicate hardware trouble. Back up data promptly and seek qualified service when hardware failure is suspected.
These steps provide general educational guidance and cannot guarantee a repair. Software cannot physically repair failed storage, damaged memory, overheating components, broken connectors, or liquid damage.
